NNA - United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, welcomed, on Sunday, the "recapture of the ancient city of Palmyra by the Syrian Army."
In a press conference held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Ki-moon said: "We were pleased by the Syrian army's declaration of regaining control of Palmyra and its expulsion of ISIS, and that it shall now protect and maintain this humanitarian legacy."
"ISIS, extremists and terrorists do not only kill humans brutally, but also destroy the legacy of human civilizations, which is thousands of years old and ought to be common property of humanity," added Ki-moon.
