NNA - "Democratic Gathering" Head, MP Walid Jumblatt, expressed in a series of Tweets on Sunday his "delight over the candidacy of former Minister Ghassan Salameh for the post of UNESCO Secretary General," describing him as "the best Lebanese and Arab figure capable of administering said Institution for his expertise, efficiency, knowledge and connections."

He added: "It remains up to the Lebanese government to decide, without hesitation, for who else other than Ghassan Salameh is worthy of this post?"

Jumblatt praised Salameh's many virtues, namely his "intellectual, political and humane sides," ranking amongst the "Lebanese elite who have raised the name of Lebanon high in various fields."

He concluded by warning against "any other suspicious nominations from the alleys of the Government Serail."
