Berri presiding over parliamentarian Communications' Commission


NNA - House Speaker Nabih Berri, presided over a meeting of the parliamentarian Communications' Commission dedicated to discussing a new electoral law.



Taking the word, Deputy of the House Alain Aoun, indicated that in the event of failing to reach an agreement over a new electoral law, candidacies would be fielded based on # 60 to pre-empt unanimous appointment.



In his words, Deputy Sami Gemayel disclosed that the Kataeb did not yet made up its mind over the new electoral law and that the prevailing atmosphere during the hearing would decide the outcome.



Deputy of the House, Akram Shehayeb, described the session as a singning rehearsal of folkloric music like its precedents



Care-taker of Public Health minister Ali Hassan Khalil, for his part, spoke about the absence of what he termed as a consensual will of all parties concerned to extend the present parliament's mandate and that parliamentarians only dispose of two weeks if they ever agree on this.



Ahmad Fatfat stated that he would never antagonize the Kataeb Party in General and Samy Gemayel in particular and that channels of communication between them remain open.
