"The Lebanese president is the protector of the constitution and a symbol of national unity. He is capable of gathering all the Lebanese and of being their symbol of agreement and not that of discord," Siniora said.
The lawmaker's words came in the wake of a visit to Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, in Bkerki earlier today.
Siniora also blamed national disruption for the continuing presidential void at the local scene.
He reminded of the fact that Lebanon remained an example for other countries in the region, thus stepped up calls for speedily filling the persisting void.
"But we should beware of rushing into any position that's irreversible," he added, regretting the fact that Michel Samaha has been released from prison "only to encourage criminals to perpetrate more crimes!"
Also, he made clear that "theoretically, there are two presidential candidates at the House of Parliament; MP General Michel Aoun, and Dr. Samir Geagea."
