NNA - Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai expressed satisfaction for the meetings that are currently held among the Maronite rivals to agree on an election law for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Rai stressed the need for Christian's unity in these difficult days which Lebanon and the region are experiencing.
"Bkirki is at the same distance from everyone," Rai said during a meeting with Lebanese parties delegation in Sao Paulo, pointing that there is a great responsibility on the Maronites in collaboration with all the Lebanese parties to preserve Lebanon's role and its mission in the world.
Rai spoke about contacts held by Bkirki to convene a meeting for the Maronite leaders at Bkirki in the coming days.
"The new electoral law should be fair and satisfy all the Lebanese," Rai asserted, pointing that talks were focusing on the hybrid bill after the refusal of the Orthodox and 1960 law.
Rai stressed the need to hold the elections on time and to preserve constitutional institutions.
