Siniora, Adwan hold joint press conference in wake of postponement of parliament session till January 7

NNA - "Future" bloc head, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, and MP George Adwan held on Wednesday a joint press conference at the House of Parliament, in the wake of the postponement of the parliamentary session to elect a new president of the republic till upcoming January 7, 2016.

Siniora said that failure to secure the requisite quorum for the election a new president of the republic for the thirty third time running is deemed as a "crime against the Lebanese and Lebanon."

He also indicated that the continued vacuum in presidential post leaves repercussions at the security, economic and daily living conditions, underlining the dire need for the restoration of functions at the constitutional institutions.

"Hariri's initiative was not stalled," Siniora said in reply to a question whether the latest Hariri's initiative was hindered.

Adwan, for his part, called for a national settlement on the issue of the presidential elections' project, which should under the ceiling of the constitution and law, as well as commitment to international resolutions.
