Ibrahim, INTERPOL agree to reinforce borders monitoring

NNA - General Security Chief, Brigadier General Abbas Ibrahim, and INTERPOL Secretary General, Ronald Noble, held Thursday a meeting in the French city, Lyon, whereby they clinched agreement over a series of security measures aimed to reinforce control of the Lebanese borders.

They also agreed to provide Lebanon's key border terminals--among which the airport-- with INTERPOL's technical database-related solutions, known as Mind/Find, to secure a better inspection of passports.

This would enable the law enforcement personnel operating at the Lebanese border terminals to have direct access to INTERPOL database.

Ibrahim said boosting cooperation with the INTERPOL constituted a top priority for Lebanon as it helps anchor public safety.

"Fighting organized crimes and terrorism is a pivotal security matter for Lebanon," he said.
