NNA - Trainings were carried out on Thursday at the Rafic Hariri International Airport and the Air Force Base in Riyak, to learn how to face natural disasters and crises, under the auspices of outgoing Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ghazi Aridi.
These trainings were part of the GARD program developed by DHL company, in cooperation with UNDP, the Lebanese Army Command, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Airport safety nets.
Outgoing Minister Aridi said "these exercises are designed to implement preventive measures before catastrophes occur."
He also emphasized the importance of partnership with municipalities, calling to deepen the cooperation means between public, social and popular institutions in all regions of Lebanon, to boost potentials in face of disasters.
The caretaker Minister then urged the United Nations and various global institutions to provide more support for Lebanon.
Aridi finally found it necessary to apply this experience in other state institutions, "so that one is always ready to minimize the impact of any possible catastrophe."
