NNA- "Whatever ills befall Asad's Syria, tend to befall Lebanon too", Syrian ambassador Ali Ali told newsmen, as he emerged out of a meeting with care-taker Foreign minister Adnan Mansour at Villa Bustros today.
He blamed regular cross-border firing into Lebanon and mounting casualty toll on what he termed as "the state of chaos and insecurity which reflect negatively on bilateral Syro-Lebanese interests." The ambassador extolled excellent bilateral relations and levels of cooperation arguing that these were in need of boosting such that they complement each other.
Punishing culprits of torching tankers bound for the Syrian interior featured high on the talks, the ambassador added. He complained that rebels received backing from Lebanese villagers and insisted on having this bad development immediately stopped. He regarded rebels occupying Asad's seat on board the Arab League as setting a dangerous precedent and challenged the Emir of Qatar to arm Palestinians rather than the rebels. Lebanon lodged no complaints against recent border and territorial water encroachment, Ali Ali added. To the contrary, relations are actually very brotherly, he exclaimed.
