NNA - In a press release by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), it said: "The launch of the Arabic translation of the late STL President Antonio Cassese's book,"International Criminal Law", has been held at the Beirut Bar Association in Beirut. This landmark text is the first book on International Criminal Law to be translated into Arabic. The translation was made possible by the cooperation between the Embassy of Switzerland in Lebanon, Sader Legal Publishers and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon."
The release added: "The book launch was inaugurated by Judge Maysam Noueiri, representing the Lebanese Minister of Justice, Ashraf Rifi, the Bâtonnier of the Beirut Bar Association, Georges Jreij, the Swiss Ambassador François Barras, as well as the CEO of Sader Legal Publishers, Rany Sader and the Head of the STL Defence Office, François Roux."
"A discussion on International Criminal Law and its relevance for Lebanon and the MENA region followed the opening. Christopher Gosnell, one of the revisers of the 3rd edition of the book, Judge Mohammad Amin El Mahdi, former Egyptian Minister of Transitional Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, as well as a former Judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Camille Habib, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Lebanese University and Olga Kavran, Head of the STL Outreach, took part in this lively debate which was moderated by Dr. Elie Al Hindy, from Notre Dame University in Lebanon," release concluded.
