Charbel from Riyadh: Saudi monarch's call consistent with Lebanon's neutrality

NNA - Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on Wednesday said that the Saudi Monarch's call, ever since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, has been in harmony with the Lebanese officials' stance supporting dialogue and political neutrality.

Arab Interior Ministers launched their 30th session in Riyadh in presence of high-ranking security officials and representatives from the U.N., Arab League, Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab Maghreb Union and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS).

In his word delivered on the occasion, Charbel highlighted that the Lebanese government's aids to Syrian families were being carried out as per the government's capacity and without any discrimination.

"Lebanon is in need of urgent aids to fulfill its humanitarian duty toward refugees whose numbers are estimated to rise at one million, and this requires an Arab and international support," he said.

Charbel said Lebanon cannot assume the responsibility of the current situation alone. He said that if this situation persisted, tensions and conflicts might arise as civil peace might be endangered.

On behalf of the Saudi Monarch Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, the Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz delivered a word during the session in which he deemed facing current challenges to require an integral Arab approach.
