NNA - Cabinet convened on Tuesday morning at Grand Serail chaired by Prime Minister Najib Mikati and in the presence of most of the Ministers with 51 items on its agenda.
Environment Minister Nazem Khoury said shortly before the Cabinet convened "the elections should be an entrance to political reform."
The Minister wondered what the reasons behind the delay in approving the election law are, adding that "President Michel Sleiman pressured to reach consensus on the proportional system."
State Minister Ali Kansou stressed need to hold elections on schedule, adding "in case failure to reach agreement on a new law, a technical delay is likely to take place".
On the other hand, Education Minister Hassan Diab hoped that the salary scale issue would be approved in the coming Cabinet's session.
Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi hoped a decision would be taken regarding the committee to oversee elections in the higher advisory body meeting on Thursday.
Finance Minister Mohamad Safadi said that he sent 2013 budget to the Presidency of the Councils of Ministers.
