Hmayed, Fadlallah advocate modern electoral plan

NNA - Liberation and Development bloc MP, Ayoub Hmayed, called on Friday for a modern electoral law that ensures real partnership among the Lebanese, whereas Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP, Sayyed Hassan Fadlallah, said that the 1960's electoral law has been long dead at the legal and constitutional levels.

Both MPs delivered their fresh stances at a commemoration ceremony in the Southern village of Haris, marking one week since the loss of Lebanese Expatriate, Ali Ahmad Mansour.

Touching on the battle-scarred Syrian nation and disparaging the entire hubbub that was sparked by Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Adnan Mansour's request to give Syria back its seat at the Arab League, Hmayed saw it was better for the Lebanese to get themselves busy with priorities.

"We ought to preserve our internal stability by better handling electoral projects that preserve internal balance and constancy," Hamyed said.

In turn, MP Fadlallah derived a word in which he highlighted the importance of the approaching legislative elections.

"They [elections] shall determine the course of power for the coming few years," he said, requesting an electoral law capable of ensuring proper representation.

However, the lawmaker dismissed Prime Minister Najib Mikati's call for elections under the 60's law as provocative, saying it goes way beyond national will.
