NNA - Economy and Trade Minister, Nicolas Nahhas, said that Lebanon succeeded in remaining steadfast in the face of changes resulting from the challenges of the Arab Spring and the ongoing repercussions of the worldwide financial crisis.



Minister Nahhas's words came in his speech at the inaugural session of "Lebanese Capital Markets Day" Conference, held in the US New York City.



Nahhas said Lebanon has managed to strengthen its status as "a safe haven for investments and as a regional attraction center of financial activities."



Nahhas highlighted Lebanon's basic characteristics- notably diversity and inter-cultures' coexistence- that render Lebanon a vital, vibrant society.



Nahhas also pointed out that the Syrian crisis poses the major challenge in front of the Lebanese government, particularly at the economic and social levels. He said the government's adopted dissociation policy aims at containing possible repercussions of this crisis.



It is to note that this is the third time the city of New York hosts the "Lebanese Capital Market Day", jointly organized by American- Lebanese Chamber of Commerce, Bank of New York-Mellon, and Auerbach Grayson Bank, in conjunction with Arab Bankers Association of North America and Lebanon Banks' Association.
