Lahham: To respect Constitutional deadlines to prevent void


NNA - In a statement by Patriarch of the Antioch and the East, Gregarious III Lahham, prior to his departure to Baghdad on Sunday, he pointed to Lebanon's need for serious and responsible attention and care, outside the scope of sectarian interests and the concept of victory and loss.


"Lebanon is the iconic nation that ought to remain the symbol and role model in its entity and historical and religious genuine origin," noted Lahham. He added that the sectarian diversity adds to Lebanon's wealth and civilized existence and to its role in spreading values.


Lahham urged Lebanese officials to respect Constitutional deadlines for fear of reaching a state of void in the Country. He stressed, herein, on the understanding of proper representation, and freedom of choosing citizens' representatives at the House of Parliament in a manner that guarantees true partnership.


Over his visit to Baghdad, Lahham indicated that he will be partaking in the appointment ceremony of a new Patriarch for the Chaldean Church. He added that he will be meeting with members of the Catholic Melkite Parish in Iraq.
