NNA - Minister of Interior Nohad Al-Mashnouq, who is currently on an official visit to the United States, met Tuesday with the head of US intelligence, John Brenan, who confirmed his country's readiness to provide to the Lebanese security forces, including the ISF and the General Security, all the necessary equipment and training.

Mashnouq later met the Assistant to the Secretary of State for Business of refugees and immigration, Anne Richard, in the presence of the Lebanese Ambassador to Washington Antoine Chedid.

Conferees discussed the challenges arising from the crisis of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Mashnouq stressed the need for support to the plan developed by Lebanon to confront the crisis; a plan which will be exposed at the donor conference to be held in Kuwait.

The Interior Minister has finally met two senior officials of the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, Gerald Firestein and Laurence Silverman. He discussed with them the situation in the region and the political developments on the Lebanese scene.

Mashnouq told his hosts that following the measures taken by the Lebanese government, the Ministry of Interior and the security forces, Lebanon managed to immunize itself in the face of the expanding fires in the entourage.

He, in this context, stressed the importance of US support to law enforcement.
He also called to accelerate the appointment of the new US ambassador to Lebanon.

US officials, for their part, expressed the support of the US administration to Lebanon and confirmed that efforts are being exerted to provide the government with all the needs that enable it to consolidate stability on the Lebanese scene.
