NNA – House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday received at the Second Presidency a delegation of the Future parliamentary bloc, headed by MP Bahia Hariri, with discussions reportedly touching on legislative affairs.
Speaker Berri stressed during the meeting that the priority of the House of Parliament has always been to fully cooperate with the judiciary in order to know the whole truth in the Beirut Port blast case.
“The Parliament, including the Development and Liberation bloc, is fully ready to lift the immunities off everyone without exception, including the judiciary, which had put its hands on the case of the nitrates from the moment of the docking of the doomed ship until the moment the explosion occurred,” Speaker Berri said.
Berri voiced support for the suspension of all immunities, in line with the proposal submitted by the Future bloc.
The House Speaker concluded by saying that accusations should not be directed against those who cooperated and will cooperate to the maximum level with the judiciary, but rather against those who are trying to exploit the blood for objectives that are now exposed.
Speaker Berri also met with former MP Jamal Al-Jarrah, with whom he discussed the current general situation and the latest political developments.
Among Speaker Berri’s itinerant visitors for today had been Lebanon’s Ambassador to Sweden, Hasan Saleh.
The Ambassador of Paraguay to Lebanon, Osvaldo Adib Al-Bitar, also visited the Speaker today, with discussions reportedly touching on the general situation and the bilateral relations between the two countries.
On the other hand, Berri contacted by phone Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, offering him condolences on the passing of the Mufti of Zahle and Bekaa, Sheikh Khalil Al-Mais.
