Abdel Samad: To put aside vexatious rhetoric amid pandemic

NNA - Caretaker Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad, on Tuesday highlighted the necessity to put aside political and spiteful diatribes, and to focus on the nation's best interest amid the coronavirus pandemic.


"This pandemic is not sparing anyone. We must keep away politics and vexatious rhetoric, and only dwell on the national interest," she told Free Lebanon radio station.


She also explained that the 10-day lockdown was not to curb the pandemic but rather to control the number of cases.


"We have noticed that there is a slight drop of cases since the enforcement of lockdown measures," she said.


On the variety of vaccines, Abdel Samad underlined that diversity was key.

"When we open the door to competition, there will be better offered conditions for citizens."


Accordingly, she indicated that the Ministry of Health was open to all offers.


Commenting on the leaked video of a meeting between the President and the Caretaker Prime Minster, Abdel Samad said: "Let's consider what happened a technical mater. Our correspondent to the presidential palace is a trusted person and we must not overanalyze things."
