Macron inspects Gemmayze, says Lebanon needs 'new political contract'

NNA - French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday visited Gemmayze, inspecting the damages caused by Beirut seaport blast.


In his word, Macron indicated that France's aids would not be put "in the hands of the corrupted."


"A free Lebanon shall rise again," he said, adding that he will be launching a new political initiative this afternoon.


"This explosion is the beginning os a new era," he stressed, explaining that his initiative will include reforms and change.


"Lebanon is in need of change and of a new political contract," he underlined.


"I am not here to support the state or the government; I am here to support the Lebanese people," he said.
