NNA – Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Mohamed Fahmy, issued a new circular on Sunday, announcing the restored daily curfew between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., in line with the directives of the Prime Minister.
The circular stated that this measure comes to ensure continued control of the spread of the Corona epidemic, and to prevent the deterioration of the situation for the worse, as has occurred in many developed countries.
The circular stressed that ensuring community health is a right and a top priority guaranteed by the law, yet at the same time, it is a shared social responsibility with all citizens, and not limited to the state alone. Hence, it asserted that everyone, institutions and individuals, have a duty to abide by the preventive measures adopted by the government in the confrontation of the emerging epidemic.
Accordingly, the Interior Minister urged citizens to strictly adhere to the instructions related to prevention and public safety measures. He cautioned that if citizens fail to comply with the adopted preventive procedures, in terms of maintaining social distancing, avoiding overcrowds and wearing masks to cover the mouth and nose areas, then all departments, public and private institutions, companies and commercial stores will have to be closed once again, with the exception of the health, medical and state security fields, whereby citizens will be prevented from being on the street under penalty of applicable laws, especially those related to epidemic diseases.
