NNA - The President of the Council of Ministers Saad Hariri contacted this afternoon the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Hariri said that Israel is fully responsible of its unjustified attack on a populated residential area in the Beirut suburbs, unprecedented since 2006, and for its repeated violation of UN resolution 1701.

Hariri stressed that this unacceptable act threatens the stability and calm that have been prevailing on the international borders for 13 years and warned that any escalation by Israel threatens to drag the region into a conflict with unpredictable consequences, thus the need for all possible international pressure on Israel.

At the end of the call, Hariri and Guterres agreed to maintain contact to follow up the efforts aiming at preventing any escalation.
