NNA - Environment Minister, Fadi Jreissati, on Wednesday held a press conference to explain the roadmap for the integrated solid waste management, which was recently approved by the Cabinet.
Opening up today's press conference, Minister Jreissati said that the solid waste issue is a sensitive matter that concerns all the Lebanese people.
Jreissati emphasized that addressing the trash issue necessitates the adoption of "unpopular" decisions, stressing that the only option in this regard is resorting to the "sanitary landfills."
The Minister cited the successful example of the Naameh landfill which "is the largest sanitary landfill that has endured Lebanon's waste for 17 years and generates electricity for seven neighboring villages."
