Jumblatt advocates meekness, dialogue to avoid more bloodshed

NNA - Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) leader MP Walid Jumblatt urged Lebanon?s political adversaries to practice political humility and resort to dialogue to prevent more bloodshed and assassinations.

"There?s a solution for everything if we resort to calm political discourse and demonstrate modest political practices,"?Jumblatt said, shedding light on the fact that terrorism does not distinguish between its targets.

The PSP leader went on to demanded coordination among both sides of the political divide, warning that any attempt to exclude others by accusing them of terrorism would only increase the spate of terrorism at the local scene.

In response to a question on whether the cabinet formation initiative would come at the hands of the Lebanese President or March 14 political camp, Jumblatt reiterated his strong attachment to the formation of a cabinet that represents all political sides in Lebanon.

This had been my call ever since I nominated Tammam Salam as Prime "Minister-designate,"? Jumblatt added, noting, however, that his calls were being ignored by ?some deaf ears.

Furthermore, Jumblatt did not rule out the fact that a Saudi-Iranian dialogue might bring regional unrest to an end.

Meanwhile, we should opt for inter-Lebanese dialogue, rather than wait for one explosion following another.?

Responding to another question on who is it that Jumblatt believes has got to take an initiative towards inter-Lebanese dialogue, the MP wondered whether any of Lebanon?s political parties lacked the courage to take this move.

"Do we lack the courage to start this initiative, to sit and talk and express goodwill? Or is it that we have to suffice with international, Arab, and Lebanese analysis following every blast?" Jumblatt wondered, urging the Lebanese to replace their extraordinary sophistry energy with tangible action aimed at combating terror schemes in Lebanon and the region.

As for Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi?s warning that any political move in the wrong direction might be fateful for Lebanon, and other analysis alluding to a growing spate of terrorism pending Geneva 2 conference on Syria, Jumblatt insisted that all were mere theories.

"All parties are called forth to take practical steps, and whoever thinks that the Syrian crisis will be resolved in one session is strictly delusional,"? Jumblatt added.
