NNA - Future bloc MP Jamal Jarrah told the Voice of Lebanon radio station that Lebanon could no longer afford the absence of a government along with the ailing political situation.
"We have entered a dangerous phase, especially with the approaching political deadlines," Jarrah told the Voice of Lebanon radio station.
The MP spoke in favour of President Michel Sleiman's "road map" in which the latter stresses the importance of forming a new cabinet -- as per the constitutional deadline.
"But we witness incessant threats by March 8 political camp which wishes to maintain a state of political void," Jarrah said, asserting that the President would resort to his constitutional prerogatives and form a cabinet that carries the nation's best interest at heart.
"If the new cabinet doesn't gain the required number of votes, the cabinet will assume a caretaker task and there will be sufficient time for a new round of consultations," he added.
"The many obstacles that Hezbollah is placing in the way of a new cabinet have led to a decision to fill the governmental void with a new cabinet, even if it doesn't gain confidence," the lawmaker added, stressing this would be the sole means to respect the constitutional course of action.
