Harb: For rallying around army in countering violent acts

NNA - Deputy Boutros Harb underlined the necessity to stand beside the State, in its legitimate forces and army backing, to enable it to counter all acts of violence and attempts of shaking its stability.

"The group (or groups) that is carrying out acts of violence, bombings and terrorism is a group obsessed ideologically," MP Harb said in a statement on Wednesday, noting the presence of certain sides that do not want to see a "stable, independent" Lebanon.

The Lawmaker stressed that the whole political spectrum in the country should rally around the Lebanese army in the face of the terrorist, takfiri and extremist waves and to identify the instigators and the plotters of the acts of terrorism.

"There is Lebanese consensus on the rejection of terrorism and supporting the military," Harb added.

On the impending presidential deadline, Harb hoped that such a constitutional deadline would be taking place on its due date, calling on all sides to partake in the parliamentary session to elect a president to secure its quorum.

"Our concern is to elect a President, who would achieve the needed majority to become a president, whether from the ranks of March 8 or March 14," Harb said.
