NNA - NDU honored on Tuesday a large number of media figures at a gathering organized by University Chairman, Father Walid Moussa and his deputy for Culture and Public Relations Suhail Matar, under the auspices of caretaker Information Minister Walid Daouk, in the presence of outgoing Minister of Education and Higher Learning Hassan Diab and ranking dignitaries.



The Information Minister responded in his words on the occasion to statements blaming media for diffusing shameful scenes.



The Minister said he was trying as hard as possible to lessen the exposure to such scenes from inside and outside Lebanon.



Daouk hoped a government would be formed as soon as possible for the country's best interest.



On the other hand, he expressed great honor to be part of this media gathering.


"Before I arrived here, I was asked how I was supposed to meet with media professionals after having called to cancel the Ministry of Information. I would like to say I have full confidence that the Ministry of Information in its current form should be eliminated, to be able to go beyond it to an improved media performance," he said.



"We want media in Lebanon to be clear, especially since many people blame this sector for everything that happens," the Minister concluded.
