NNA - Prime Minister-designate, Tammam Salam, on Monday condemned the assaults on Lebanese Army posts in the Southern city of Sidon on Sunday, calling for swift measures to unveil the identity of those who plotted for these abominable acts.
A Lebanese Army first sergeant and four gunmen were killed Sunday evening in attacks on two Army checkpoints in Sidon.
"The Lebanese Army has always been and will always be the guarantor of Lebanon's safety and stability," Salam said, deeming any assault on the Army an attack against all the Lebanese.
"All the Lebanese and the people of Sidon in specific are called forth to rally around the Army to facilitate its task and in an attempt to torpedo ill-willed schemes that wish harm for our armed forces.
