NNA - A celebration was held Saturday in Zahle under the patronage of caretaker Minister of Energy, Gibran Bassil, during which he rejected the logic of compromise, particularly when it came to presidential elections and cabinet formation.
A water refinery laboratory centre was inaugurated today in Zahle by Bassil with the aid and support of the U.S. Agency for International Development.
"In these stormy times, we hope to rid ourselves of political storms, especially sabotage to cultural diversity," he said.
"There will be no barter over extending presidential mandate in exchange for a 9-9-6 cabinet...and we decline to accept just any president. Let there be presidential elections from our reality. And to Christians we say, he who will be president must derive his status and authority from his political sect and Lebanese sect."
