Mansour visits Gabon, meets President

NNA - Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour, followed his visit to Guinea with another to Gabon whereby he met Friday with President Ali Bongo Ondimba and House Speaker Guy Nzouba-Ndama.

Talks between Mansour and the President focused on bilateral ties as well as Lebanese regional affairs, particularly the Arab-Israeli conflict and repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon.

Bongo encouraged the Lebanese to invest in Gabon, lauding the active and positive role the Lebanese community has had on the rise and development of his country.

He also welcomed the Geneva nuclear agreement between Iran and P5+1, hoping that the Middle East would be free of weapons of mass destruction.

In his turn, Mansour handed Bongo a letter from President Michel Sleiman who expressed Lebanon's appreciation for Gabon, its President, government and people for embracing the Lebanese. He asserted the Lebanese people's utter respect for the rules and regulations of Gabon, and hoped for the soon enactment of bilateral agreements and protocols between the two countries.

Parliamentary Speaker Nzouba also convened with Mansour and conveyed his wish to visit Lebanon.

Mansour inaugurated the opening of the new Lebanese embassy building, funded by the Lebanese community in Gabon. A reception was held on that occasion attended by high ranking Gabonese officials, diplomats and a large crowd of the Lebanese community.
