Bassil commences Ireland visit by meeting members of Foreign Affairs Committee, touring House of Representatives and Senate

NNA - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Gebran Bassil began his visit to Ireland in a meeting with members of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade Committee of the Irish Parliament, where an extensive dialogue was held on the issues of expatriates and their relationship, their homeland and their right to participate in the elections and in obtaining citizenship.

The minister also discussed thee emergency forces operating in southern Lebanon, where he thanked Ireland, whose soldiers are participating in this force and have established social and humanitarian relations with the population.

In conclusion, it was agreed to establish a parliamentary friendship committee and promote trade exchange.

At the end of the meeting, Bassil toured the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The Minister then headed to the headquarters of the Irish-Arab Chamber of Commerce where he met with representatives of the Irish Businessmen's Association, investment support institutions and the institution responsible for the food industry.
It was thereby decided to establish cooperation mechanisms with the competent authorities in Lebanon to identify the opportunities available for the establishment of a partnership between the two sides, especially in the field of food industries.
