NNA - Speaker of the House Nabih Berri met this Tuesday with Minister of Education Akram Shehayeb, discussing with him the issue of the Lebanese University professors' ongoing strike.

"A paper including a number of demands has been submitted, and the largest part of these demands is rightful. There is a possibility to reach a settlement on some demands soon, while others may require more studying and time. Since the beginning, I believed that the demands were right, but the timing of the strike was not suitable, amid the financial and economic crisis we are facing. But the Lebanese university remains a basic developmental, educational, economic and cultural center which we must preserve," said Shehayeb.

"We will continue our discussions in the hopes of reaching a solution that satisfies everyone and gives the student the right to end their academic year," he pledged.
