Qabbani blasts Lebanon's 'faltering cabinet'

NNA - Member of Parliament, Mohammad Qabbani, on Wednesday lashed out at what he described as a "faltering cabinet", deeming the ongoing exchange of barbs among cabinet ministers an outright proof.



"The ongoing polemic between Ministers Safadi and Ghazi Aridi reveal the high state of corruption that the nation endures," Qabbani told Orient radio station.



The MP stressed herein the paramount importance of holding both Ministers accountable for their actions, demanding swift moves by Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim in this case.



As for the dire condition of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the MP expressed hope that the prevailing storm, Alexa, would not worsen the situation.



He also refused attempts to set the cabinet afloat. "This is a resigning cabinet that cannot be set be set afloat -- as per the Lebanese constitution," the lawmaker said, pressing for swift cabinet formation by the Prime Minister-designate and Lebanese President.



Qabbani also expressed belief that the mounting electricity crisis in Lebanon would not be solved in a cabinet session.



"Minister Gebran Bassil had been at the Ministry of Water and Energy for 4 years. If he had implemented article 462, we would have been enjoying 24/7 electricity coverage long ago," he added.


The Minister finally supported Lebanon's decision to fund the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
