NNA - Progressive Socialist Party Leader, MP Walid Jumblatt, said Thursday that Israel was the chief benefiter of the sharp political and sectarian rift sweeping the Middle East and Arab region, placing the series of assassinations and blasts within the enemy's interests.



"Israel considers that the explosion of the situation in Lebanon and the regional countries constitutes the golden chance for it to resume its colonization and terminate the Palestinian Cause," he indicated in a statement today.



He added that the fresh killing of Hezbollah's top leader, Hassan Lakkis, came within the framework of the interests of Israel, which is now watching the Arab and Islamic region sliding progressively into bickering and fights.



He also said that fingers had best be pointed at Israel in the case of the twin blasts that have recently targeted the Iranian embassy in Beirut, deprecating the accusations lobbed against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.



"We remind the sides of the Lebanese political community of the necessity not to omit Israel and its historic hatred for Lebanon. We call to give the competent judicial authorities the time they need to assume their mission in uncovering troublemakers and killings and bombings' authors," he stressed.



"Relying on the state apparatuses is the sole path that curbs tension and leads to composure, albeit not fully," he concluded.
