NNA - Director General Political of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Simon Gass, on Thursday ended a two-day visit to Lebanon, where he met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and discussed the security situation in Tripoli and the latest regional developments.
Gass reiterated to Mansour the UK's continued support to Lebanon's stability and security.
He also visited Dbayeh Palestinian refugee camp where he saw first-hand the living conditions of Palestinian refugees. He saw evidence of how the influx of refugees from Syria is putting further pressure on the infrastructure in the camps. Following his visit to the camp, Gass said: 'The UK is determined to support refugees in Lebanon and communities hosting them. That is why the UK has pledged £15.5m of funding for UNRWA, to deliver lifesaving support to Palestinian refugees both inside Syria and those who have once again had to flee to neighbouring countries.'
UNRWA's Deputy Director Roger Davies accompanied Gass on his visit.
