NNA - Lebanon failed to reach the finals of the World Basketball Championship to be hosted by China next summer after losing to South Korea [72-84] in the match held this afternoon at the Nuhad Nauffal Stadium in Zouk Mikael, as part of the Asian-Oceania final qualifiers.

South Korea reduced the gap in the first two games and drew a 61-61 draw before Lebanon advanced by two points at the end of the third half 64-62. The South Koreans then advanced at the beginning of the fourth half, widening the gap once again as the Lebanese team was unable to restore the lead.

Lebanon had to win to participate in the world cup for the fourth time in its history, having participated in the 2002 World Championship in Indianapolis, USA, 2006 in Japan as part of the Asian Championship, and 2010 in Turkey by special invitation.
