NNA - Future Bloc MP, Hadi Hobeish, told Voice of Lebanon radio Saturday that the Arab Democratic Party has implicated the entire Alawite sect in violence, calling on Alawite leaders to stand against Ali Eid and stop covering for him.
Clashes between Bab Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen regions in Tripoli have claimed three lives and left twelve injured on Saturday.
Although Hobeish censured targeting individuals by shooting their legs in the northern city, he pointed to the reason behind such an act as the "grave and historic error committed by perpetrators of the twin explosions in Tripoli and the role played by former MP Ali Eid in this issue."
He urged religious Alawite leaderships to take a clear stance against Eid.
"Retaliations are categorically rejected. Sadly the faltering of the state and the domination of certain people are pushing citizens to take matters into their own hands."
The MP also commented on the situation in Syria, stating that the Security Council projected an image of abiding by the interests of major countries and being submissive to veto powers.
"I do not consider that the Syrian regime was saved, but rather its mandate extended, by major players, giving it more time to butcher the Syrian people."
Once more, Hobeish denounced all forms of extremism in Syria. However, he directed attention back to the source of the revolt which was people demanding their freedom from a dictatorship.
